The time and money this dude has sunk into achieving this effect in 2D can be better spent elsewhere.
It's kinda impractical for a lot of things. The point of the video seems to be 'look at this interesting/cool/nice looking method I found to make faux 3D'. If this effect was achievable pretty quickly, without having to learn new tools, then it seems like walking a mile to walk a mile. The person in the video is pretty obviously only particularly familiar with a 2D toolchain. I know all about the aesthetic preference of 2D for achieving a certain look.īut this ship demo is walking a mile to achieve what 3D can achieve in only a few feet. This is honestly just all wrong, and reflects badly on you as a professional.
